Level 1 Social Skills & Emotional Regulation Group
This is an eight week group offered by an occupational therapist with support of a program assistant. It is designed to advance social and self-regulation skills in preparation for group educational settings. Small group sizes (max. 4 children) allow for targeted skill development based on the WE THINKERS and FOCUS programs.

Group Goals

Focusing and attending with a peer: following, turn-taking, sharing

Understanding verbal and nonverbal emotions in self and others

Using internalized social rules (e.g., raising a hand in class, changing from one activity to another) and self-monitoring behavior

Expressing and responding to a range of emotions

Recovery from dysregulation with help from peers or adults

Who is it for?

When dysregulated they do not have behaviours such as scratching, biting, head butting, throwing objects with intent to hurt, etc.
